RanchBooks stores operational and financial records that matter to a ranch. This page explains who operates the service, what happens to your data and the safeguards built into the application.
Your ranch data belongs to your operation
RanchBooks customers retain ownership of the ranch records they enter or import. RanchBooks uses those records to provide the service; it does not turn operational ranch records into public content.
Ranch owners can download a portable RanchBooks JSON export of supported operational records from Backup & Import.
Application data storage
RanchBooks is deployed on Microsoft Azure. The application stores ranch data in its private application data area outside the publicly served web root, so raw ranch JSON files are not intended to be directly downloadable by guessing a website URL.
Ranch separation & access
Authenticated users are assigned to a ranch and RanchBooks reads and writes records within that ranch context. Ranch Owners control ranch-level users, roles and module access. System administration is separate from ranch-level ownership.
Backups & exports
RanchBooks maintains application restore-point mechanisms and provides customer-controlled ranch exports. We still recommend keeping periodic downloaded exports somewhere your operation controls, especially before large imports or cleanup work.
Payments
Subscription checkout and payment-method management are handled through Stripe. RanchBooks stores the Stripe identifiers and subscription status needed to operate the account; payment-card details are handled by Stripe rather than stored in RanchBooks ranch files.
Public-site analytics & signup protection
The public marketing site may use configured analytics and automated-abuse protection. Ranch application pages are separate from the public marketing analytics configuration.
Data export & account closure
Before ending service, download a current ranch export and any important files you need to retain. Contact RanchBooks support for account or data-retention questions specific to your subscription.
